West Bay Welcomes Tyler Backs to Their Cedar Team
West Bay Forest Products (West Bay) is delighted to announce the addition of Tyler Backs as Sales and Procurement Specialist, further strengthening the company’s capabilities and expertise in Western Red Cedar.
Tyler brings over 10 years of experience in Western Red Cedar manufacturing and sales, providing him with extensive knowledge of cedar products, key markets, and the relationships that connect manufacturers, suppliers, and customers throughout the industry.
He is ingrained in the lumber industry, bringing a valuable combination of hands-on knowledge, established relationships, and a long-term perspective to West Bay. His addition reflects the company’s commitment to investing in experienced, solid people who can grow alongside the business and help expand its capabilities for years to come.

In his new role, Tyler will focus on both Western Red Cedar sales and procurement, working closely with customers and suppliers alongside the West Bay team to strengthen fibre supply, develop new opportunities, and expand the company’s Western Red Cedar offering.
“We’re very excited to welcome Tyler to West Bay,” said Chad Findlay, Vice-President at the company. “One of his greatest strengths is understanding the product from both the manufacturing and the sales sides of the business. He’s dedicated his entire career to building his cedar knowledge from the mill level, and using that knowledge to build meaningful relationships within the industry. For Tyler, the move represents an opportunity to continue building on his lumber experience, helping West Bay develop the next stage of its cedar business.

The addition of Tyler is part of West Bay’s continued investment in its team. Last year, the company welcomed two new cedar sales representatives following successful internships, and Tyler’s arrival adds even more experience to the growing group.
